I faced and overcame my own deep fears when I gave up a successful career in business to pursue my own purpose and fulfilment.

For many years I worked within an environment that felt alien to me. I was having to fit in to cultures and roles that subordinated the individual and their potential to seemingly random goals and objectives (why did we need ‘double-digit growth’, for instance?) through the creation of fear and dependency. I saw people control others through direction and ‘command and control’, which often seemed to destroy motivation and energy than create it! And all in a time when the knowledge of positivity and the new psychology was becoming mainstream. At the same time, I found myself becoming dependent on the benefits of the associated lifestyle – the salary, the international travel, the status etc., which I knew to be some sort of ‘compensation’ for not listening to my inner voice…

Why did I stay?

I had a strong fear of risk. 

I wanted to make sure that my family had more security and my children had more opportunities than I had while growing up. It was only when they were in their teens that my inner need to live and explore what I believed to be true became strong enough to overcome my fears around security, money, responsibility … and just at that moment the financial cushion I had been relying on disappeared, so I had to jump without a ‘parachute’ or a cushion for a softer landing! As you might imagine, this taught me a lot about fear and how to overcome it.

Since then, people from all over the world have benefited from these totally practical and effective tools and techniques – honed from all areas of psychology, ancient traditions and personal experience – that I have developed to enable them to free themselves, find themselves and embark on their journey of fulfilment and contribution.

Jefferson's Story

Jefferson is married with two children and four grandchildren and lives in the south of England.  He has always aimed to combine his various roles at home and at work with an exploration of life’s purpose and the essential positivity of existence.  

Prior to becoming a leadership performance coach, facilitator, speaker and consultant, Jefferson enjoyed a successful 25-year career in industry, in which he gained extensive international, cross cultural and cross functional experience in senior commercial positions.  His personal and professional experience in both blue-chip and start-up companies provides Jefferson with an extensive experiential framework on which he is able ground his development work. This ensures practical and compassionate relevance backed up by extensive developmental theory and modeling. 

Since 2004, Jefferson has been delivering Performance Coaching internationally at senior and all levels and  – Chairman, CEO, Managing Director, Vice President and Director functions through to whole organsations – throughout the world across all business sectors at the individual, team and organisational levels.  Current and recent clients include the United Nations, Allergan, Glaxo SmithKline, Panasonic Avionics, Colt Technology Services, Sphere Medical, Jing Tea, E’OC Engineers, GW Pharmaceuticals, Cambridge Enterprise, Aqdot, Novartis, Arup.

Jefferson is co-founder of Extraordinary Leadership (for organisational work) and LeadNow! (for young adults), and the on-line programme LeadDirect.  He also co-founded the “Extraordinary Leadership Journey”, which takes clients to work in Kenya, South Africa and India, and “WellBoring”, a charity which provides sustainable water solutions for African communities.
